The Marblehead Lighthouse

Coming this Summer

In conjunction with the 200th Anniversary Celebration of the Lighting of the Marblehead Lighthouse, there will be many special activities going on at the lighthouse and in the community.

  • All events are FREE as a result of the generosity of the sponsors who donated to our celebration.  We appreciate their support

  • All events are on the lighthouse grounds unless otherwise noted

  • The lighthouse, lifesaving station, keeper's house and gift shop are open daily 12-4 from May 28- September 5. 

  • There may also be extended hours in conjunction with some of the special events.

  • Tickets for climbing the lighthouse are $3 cash.  The last tour begins at 3:40pm. 

  • Please note - We are expecting record crowds this summer.

    • Holiday weekends and some events may require off-site parking. 

    • Plan to purchase your tickets to climb the tower early in the day.  On busy days, tickets sell out early. 

  • We hope you enjoy your visit to our park.

  •  June 6     Plein Air painters - 9:30-11 am
    - Watch or join the painters at the lighthouse. 

    Wet Paint Sale of   their artwork to follow the event.

  • June 8- Paint and Pour Class   11- noon

 - Ages 15 and up (limit of 30 people)

  • June 22 - Lighthouse and Sailboat craft    11- noon

- Ages 5 and up (limit of 30 people)

  • July  6- Lighthouse Light craft  11- noon

- Ages 5 and up (limit of 30 people) ​

  • July 20   Paint and Pour Class  11-noon

-Ages 15 and up (limit of 30 people)

- prizes for the first 75 children (under 13)  to complete the hunt

    -bingo prizes will be awarded by the local merchants.

  • August 17   Geocaching at the Lighthouse    12 -3 pm
    -Learn about geocaching, then try your hand at finding several geocaches in the area.  A smartphone that can download the geocaching app is needed. 

  • September 3   Star Party    8:30 - 10:30am  
    -Black River Astronomical Society will host a public viewing event in the park

  • October 8   Fossil Walk  noon- 4pm
    -Join a geologist as he discusses local fossil types and conducts a fossil walk along the shore

Meetings of the Marblehead Lighthouse Historical Society are on the third Wednesday of the month (April - Oct) at 6:30pm at the Danbury Township Fire Station. 

The Marblehead Lighthouse Historical Society  work in cooperation with and provide support for the Marblehead Lighthouse State Park, owned and operated by the State of Ohio.
